Wondering what’s happening at your Neighborhood House and in the community? Check it out!
Like our spring and summer events, our winter and holiday events will look differently this year. However, the community needs remain the same. We are committed to continuing to provide for those needs and are working on adapting our holiday events to do so safely.
Santa for Seniors
Through the generous donation of our community partners at UFS our Santa for Seniors gift wrapping is taken care of. Although we won’t need volunteers for wrapping gifts this year, we are still in need of volunteers to deliver our Santa for Senior gifts.
This year we are saddened we won’t be able to collect toy donations for our annual Children’s Toy Shop. However, we are still dedicated to spreading joy to our area youth. We are adapting our Children’s Toy Shop into an Angel Tree for the approximately 200 children currently within our meal delivery program. We are in need of local families, businesses and organizations to adopt these children.
Food Fight 2020 was a success thanks to your support. We are already looking forward to another great event next year. Mark your calendar and join us!
This Food Network inspired event begins with a live auction for a cooking spot in the chef competition and two judge spots. Once the battle begins the chefs have 45 minutes to make an entrée with a bag of secret ingredients. It’s a fun social event where you get to taste signature items from all the chefs. Food Fight proceeds help support our meal programs, like Meals on Wheels, Critters Meals on Wheels, After School Meals, and Summer Meals for Kids.
Unfortunately with the current spread of COVID-19 this year’s 2020 RAGBRAI has been postponed until next summer, July 25-31, 2021. Our team is excited to participate in next year’s 48th RAGBRAI event and is currently working on ways to ensure our community does not suffer from the loss of this major fundraising opportunity.
We hope to see you for RAGBRAI 2021!
As part of our mission we strive to provide a safe environment for our community. With the ever-changing situation and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Saddle Up fundraiser for 2020. Our team is working on virtual fundraising opportunities to help prevent the negative impact this loss of revenue will have on our services the community needs. Watch our Facebook page and website for ways you can continue to partner with us.
